Job Title: Coordinator of Youth and Family Ministries

Location: Walla Walla, Washington 

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: up to $22.00 per hour

Expected Hours: up to 10 hours per week

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an organized, self-motivated Coordinator of Youth and Family Ministries to foster a vibrant environment for the youth and families in our congregation and surrounding community. In this role, you will work with the youth committee to develop engaging youth activities and family-focused social events, help to oversee summer outreach programs, and ensure our child safety policies are maintained. You will report directly to the Pastor.

 

Key Responsibilities

 * Youth Ministry (Jr. & Sr. High): Plan and coordinate activities that help youth build strong connections with God, the church, and their peers. Integrate teens into congregational life based on their personal interests (e.g., worship music, outdoor activities).

* Family & Parent Engagement: Organize social events that build community among church families and create low-barrier activities where members can invite non-church friends.

* Community Outreach: Help plan, organize, and run camps such as Vacation Bible School (VBS).

* Safety & Administration: Serve as the primary administrator for child safety policies. Recruit volunteers, ensure all background checks are up to date, maintain office records, and keep emergency contact forms current. Work will be documented through spreadsheets and word documents.

* Communication: Provide regular updates to the congregation via newsletter articles, bulletin boards, email, and texts. Report activities to the church council.

 

Goals of the Youth Coordinator:

 * Increase participation of teens and youth in church activities and worship.

 * Improve retention rates for youth following confirmation and graduation.

 * Expand the reach of youth and family ministries within the wider community.

 

Qualifications

* Strong organizational and self-motivation skills.

 * Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

 * Proven ability to coordinate, recruit, and manage volunteers.

 * Clear written and verbal communication across email, phone, and text.

* Dependable administrative skills and attention to detail, including experience using google sheets or excel spreadsheets to organize records.
